Tin Men is one of my favorite movies of all time. The thing that always strikes me whenever I watch this movie is that while the characters of Richard Dreyfuss and Danny DeVito are seemingly feuding non-stop throughout the movie, in reality they are actually kindred spirits. It's like they see themselves in the other but don't really like what they see. Barbara Hershey is great...。Set in a small town in West Texas, four boyhood friends who made a solemn promise to leave town together immediately after high school graduation must now "put up or shut up." The clock is ticking, and as all 81 people in town watch, offer advice, and place bets, these four very different boys struggle with the biggest decision of their lives . . . whether to stay or leave home...。昔話に説教、趣味の講釈、病気自慢。そうかと思えば、無気力、そしてクレーマー。 老害をまき散らす老人たちと、それにうんざりして「頼むからどこかへ行ってくれ」とさえ思う若年層。でも、口には出せない。 老害側にいくら言い分があろうと、若年層はストレスをためるばかりだ。 それなのに「終活」は早いうちから考え始めた方がよいと世間は煽る。 若年層のはずの５０代、いや６０に手が届く子供世代は得体のしれない焦りを感じている。 その子供たちも複雑な事情や心情を抱える。 一方の老害側も感じている。老人を婉曲に別枠に入れる世間の風を。 そして、人生百年と言われても、一体どう生きたらいいのか…と。 埼玉県川越の近くの街に住む一家を中心に、会社を娘の夫に譲った筈の戸山福太郎と、近所の老人５名＝老害五重奏がコロナ禍に巻き起こす騒動と、家族たちの群像活劇。 双方の本音がぶつかった...。
